Mr. Matamoros studied law with a focus on criminal law at the Ruprecht Karl University of Heidelberg and the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (Spain). He completed his legal clerkship at the Higher Regional Court of Karlsruhe, including stations with renowned criminal defense attorneys and the Public Prosecutor General's Office in Koblenz.

During his studies and clerkship, he worked for several years at the Chair for Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure, Medical Law, and Legal Philosophy (Prof. Dr. Jan C. Schuhr), where he is currently pursuing his doctorate on a fundamental topic in criminal law.
